I don't know how we got so lucky this year but our weddings have been awesome. Awesome people, awesome locations and awesome weather just kept happening every weekend. Personally, I'm so proud of our work this year and I have so many good memories from all of these photos. This wedding was shot by both me and Ryan this time which was a lot of fun working together again.
Lesia and Jason are living the dream. They have a beautiful old house on 10 acres north of Detroit and it's so peaceful out there. We were able to shoot at their house which I love since it's obviously an important place to them. I think it adds so much more of a personal touch which was really the goal throughout the day. Lesia was actually Jason's realtor back in the day when he purchased the house and that's how they met! As the day went on, we got to know them better and everyone became more comfortable and by the end of the night...well... Jason surprised me a bit. The guy is a dancing machine!
The first image above is my favorite from the whole day. It's one we had talked about during planning meetings and I knew in my head how cool it would be. Lesia is a dietician and shops at the Eastern Market in Detroit and loves it there so I wanted to get a shot of them, still, amongst the movement of other shoppers. It wasn't as busy as I was hoping for, but I'm still excited about how it turned out.
I'm just excited about everything basically. I love all the personal touches, I love how normal they were together and how their whole life just seemed to make sense for who they are. I loved their friends and family and how respectful but fun the whole group was. It was just a beautiful day and I wish I could go back and have all this fun all over again.
I asked what the lunch box was all about and he just replied "to hold my stuff" as though this was totally normal. haha!
This was all shot on their property. It is seriously beautiful out there and I'm 100 kinds of jealous.
You know what I love? I love grooms who make their brides laugh. Those are always some of my favorite photos. Nobody else knows how to make a girl laugh better than the guy who loves her.
CATS! You all know about our love for cats I'm sure. Whenever we are shooting sessions or weddings and there are cats around, Ryan can't help himself from photographing them. In this case, they are family so they had to be included. :)
This is another one from the Market and I'm just crazy for it.
This guy! Every wedding there is one groomsmen who I think is really funny and this time around, it's this guy. He was the happiest, nicest, funniest guy and it was really just a joy to be around him. I can see why they are all friends.
Let's just talk about this church. We have shot here before and every time, It just blows my mind at how ornate and beautiful it is. Sometimes so much detail can distract from photos which is why we love really clean work, but in this case it just adds so much and I love it.
We had such a wonderful time at this wedding. Working with people who make so much sense together and be around their families who adore them, it's just a dream job. Most of my job is spent sitting at my desk alone doing very boring things but when we get to go out and do the shooting part of it and be a part of such amazing weddings like this one with such truly lovely people, it makes all the boring stuff I do so worth it. :)
